About Reading Rescue DFW
Reading Rescue DFW provides specialized dyslexia and reading therapy for children and adolescents in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Located in southern Denton County, our mission is to help struggling readers build strong literacy skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning through compassionate, evidence-based instruction.
Instruction is delivered by a certified dyslexia professional and is tailored to each student’s unique learning profile. We offer individualized one-on-one therapy, academic screening, customized lesson planning, and ongoing parent communication so families always understand their child’s progress and next steps.
Using the structured, multi-sensory approach provided in the Take Flight curriculum, students develop essential skills in phonemic awareness, decoding, spelling, fluency, and reading comprehension. Our goal is not just improvement, but meaningful, lasting progress that empowers students to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

What We Do
Academic Language Therapy
Take Flight: A comprehensive intervention for students with dyslexia
Academic Language Therapy instruction is multisensory (visual, auditory, kinesthetic), systematic (logical order), cumulative (builds on previous learning) and explicit (direct) approach for remediation of written language skills.
Early Childhood
Pre Flight: Phonemic Awareness and Reading Comprehension for those not quite ready for Take Flight
Pre-Flight is an introduction for young students to Take Flight, and is appropriate for children in grades preschool through 1st grade who have difficulty distinguishing sounds (phonemic awareness), limited vocabulary or background
knowledge, and who fail to employ strategies to reflect on the meaning of text.
Grammar
Winston Grammar
Winston Grammar is the preferred grammar curriculum used in conjunction with the Take Flight program. It is a largely kinesthetic and visual curriculum with a hands-on, participative approach. Colorful parts of speech cards are used in lieu of diagramming. The goal is for students to reach an intuitive understanding of the parts of speech and language structure. As with other aspects of the Take Flight program, the goal is reading comprehension.
Comprehensive Reading Focus
Reading Therapy Services
Reading Rescue DFW employs specialized methods to address dyslexia and other reading challenges, focusing on structured literacy and multisensory instruction tailored to individual needs.
Our one-on-one therapy sessions are designed to provide targeted support for learners with dyslexia and reading difficulties. We don’t need a diagnosis to begin services and to see if Take Flight might be a good fit for your struggling reader!
Other Services
In conjunction with the Take Flight program, we can offer all-level speech support as needed. Also, all-level writing support can be addressed when appropriate.
Individualized Tracks
Customized learning paths designed around each student’s specific reading challenges, strengths, and pace for meaningful, lasting progress.
Success Stories

Parent
Prior to beginning the Take Flight therapy with Leslie, my son experienced much frustration, and I wasn't sure he would ever learn to read or have a positive attitude toward learning. Not long after beginning with Leslie, I was relieved as he began to look forward to going! Leslie has a unique ability to connect with students, understand where they are, and is able to foster motivation. She provides the structure and consistency that is needed to overcome multiple learning disabilities and to develop fluency in reading. The homework she gives is always manageable and organized in a notebook. Leslie was flexible and willing to adjust the schedule to meet our needs. She goes above and beyond, teaching students strategies and giving them the tools needed to read, spell, and write! The money and time invested with Leslie helped our son overcome multiple learning disabilities and become confident in classroom settings so that he now experiences academic success! Leslie opened the door for my child to develop comprehensive language acquisition and I’m thankful for the positive difference she’s made.

I had so much fun with Ms. Crisco! She is an awesome tutor and has helped me with reading, writing, and spelling. We read several books together, which was fun and helped my reading ability (She is really great to read with!) She also taught me how to write in cursive, and I practiced every time I wrote out sentences with her. The program breaks down spelling, so that I could slowly build the skills I needed with confidence. We moved quickly through different parts of the program, and she kept the time moving along. She had ways of making me feel comfortable and engaged with the material. We always had a great time together. She showed an interest in me beyond the Take Flight program, and was a big support to me in many different ways.
